I hope i am not upsetting anyone with my words, as it's not my goal.
I went to Sunday's meeting wondering if I want to be a part of this collective any more. I decided I don't.
I suspect that for whatever reason, the majority of core members want the radio to die or reset. Perhaps the motivation stems from an elitist attitude; Or wishing to be in charge of something, or to have greater control over the programming.
I feel like my vision of a independent media source that reaches out to the community, strives for equality, and wishes to affect change; is not shared.
Tasks required for non-hierarchical power sharing and quality of the radio; such as responsibility, self-reliance, action, & commitment are rarely practiced.
There is too much discord between members and there seems to be dis-interest in friendship.
I feel like the majority of my ideas have been ignored, that actions take too long to happen, that I want something different then others.
My proposals for promotion, temporarily broadcasting, benefits, outreach, etc.. have been dismissed or silenced.
My encouragement to learn about technology (a valuable tool) is ignored.
People rarely post on the website, a huge part of our existence to the outside world.
I'm weary of trying to convince people that what I think is important, is. Maybe we will never agree. Perhaps (if reseting the programming is a motivation) I am one of the people that should be purged, because I no longer feel like I share a mission with the people will radio.
whoever wants to take over the webmastering responsibilities, email me and I'll set you up. If that person or persons has any questions. I'll answer them via email for a month.
